Let's jump into the first chapter.
The subject is the Creation story and the concept of Paradise.Parker and Brock point out in the first chapter of "Saving Par
adise," that "Humanity, like God, was responsible for making life flourish, so that joy and beauty might bless the world."(p. 15)
Phyllis Trible notes that in Genesis 2, God made a creature from clay. he hebrew word, adam (earthling), is NOT a proper name for a male individual, but a generic noun that designates a being made of ha-damai(earth). As in Genesis 1, adam was a generic human being, encompassing male and female.....
How does this reading change the way we see Adam and Eve in the Garden? (p.16)
Does it matter how the Garden of Eden is portrayed to us? How does the telling of the Creation story in this new interpretation change the way we view male and female as well as the relationship between God and human with regard to the stewardship of the Earth (Eden)?
